Reindeer Chihuahua
Chihuahuas are tiny, adorable little dogs that anyone and everyone would love to keep as pets. However, there are a lot many aspects to selecting the right type of Chihuahua for oneself. It is important that you know all the Types Of Chihuahuas available, and only then, decide.
Chihuahuas are often categorized into “Appleheaded” or “Deerheaded” ones. The Appleheaded Chihuahua is what one might call the “standard” type of Chihuahua. It has a dome of a skull that is broader than the jaw structure and a slight depression or “molera”, as it is called, therein, at the time of birth, which fills up slowly during the first few months of development. The forehead of this type of Chihuahua rises almost 90 degree off the muzzle, giving the head an overall apple-like structure. The eyes are usually round and protruding.
The Deerheaded, or deer, or, as it is called nowadays, “reindeer” Chihuahua is a type of Chihuahua that does not fall into the “standard” category, and has a sloped forehead, possibly with elegant, slim and slender deer-like paws and legs, giving them the appearance of little deer, and hence, their name. ReinDeer Chihuahuas could be long haired or short haired, and could possess coats of any single color or color combination, with various patterns adding to their beauty. While no hue or pattern is considered above the others, some are relatively rarer than the others. The blue colored reindeer Chihuahua is a model example of this.
Reindeer Chihuahuas are quite prone to some genetic and usually neurological anomalies like seizure disorders and epilepsy. They are prone to hypoglycemia, that is, low blood sugar, eye infections and hydrocephaly, and need to be attended to with great care and consideration. However, while they are selective eaters, they should not be unnecessarily overfed out of affection, for in that case their health will be affected adversely, and they will be prone to chronic bronchitis, tracheal collapse, joint injuries and shortened life span. Hence, reindeer Chihuahuas are a breed of dog that requires special, proficient veterinary expertise.
Apart from the physical features, while reindeer Chihuahuas are generally considered to be possessive, they are still believed and proven to be loving creatures. However, you would be wise to choose a reindeer Chihuahua that has a temperament to match yours, for otherwise it may be quite difficult for you to get along with it.
Whatever said and done, though, reindeer Chihuahuas are adorable little creatures, and make delightful pets and companions. Once you have bought the right kind of reindeer Chihuahua, though, it is your responsibility to groom it well, and treat it like a member of your family, and, as the cliché goes, your best friend.
