Deerleg Chihuahua

     Chihuahuas are known to be utterly enchanting creatures – loyal and faithful, cute and adorable. They not only make great pets, but are also considered to be a “status symbol” amongst many wealthy and famous people. Celebrities of all orders have been known to own one of this sweet, lovable breed of dog, and have set the trend for many others.

     Chihuahuas are often categorized into “Appleheaded” or “Deerheaded” ones. The Appleheaded Chihuahua is what one might call the “standard” type of Chihuahua. It has a dome of a skull that is broader than the jaw structure and a slight depression or “molera”, as it is called, therein, at the time of birth, which fills up slowly during the first few months of development. The forehead of this type of Chihuahua rises almost 90 degree off the muzzle, giving the head an overall apple-like structure.

     The eyes are usually round and protruding. The Deerheaded Chihuahua is a type of Chihuahua that does not fall into the “standard” category, and has a sloped forehead, possibly with elegant, slim and slender deer-like paws and legs, giving them the appearance of little deer, and hence, their name.

     Recently, another name for a breed of Chihuahuas has sprung up – “deer leg” Chihuahuas. While not many people have heard of this term, there is a rising demand to know about this “type” of the breed.

     Personally, I would say that a deer leg Chihuahua is probably a mix between the apple head Chihuahua and the deerhead Chihuahua, and has inherited one’s head structure and the other’s limbs. While there are few chances of this occurring, we cannot really deny the possibility of the existence of apple headed deerleg Chihuahuas. In fact, it is quite likely, to tell you the truth.

     However, it does not really matter if your Chihuahua is a deerhead or and applehead, or even a deerleg Chihuahua, mainly because while they have been categorized as above, the AKC maintains that there exist only two Types Of Chihuahuas – short coated and long coated. Both of these include all the kinds of heads and legs, whether apple or deer.

     It is, after all, the love and affection that you will receive when you own a pet that matters, whether it is a deerhead Chihuahua or an applehead one, or a deerleg Chihuahua in turn.

     All you must do is provide the same amount of love and affection to your deerleg Chihuahua, if you own one, and witness the magic and beauty of the strong and unbreakable bond that gets built between the two of you, based on this.
